Yarn Artist Get-Together
Phulkari WOJ organised a 'Yarn Artist Get-Together' at The Space in Jalandhar on Dec 28, 2021. It was evening of learning, sharing, creating and having fun as we celebrated the yarn arts - knitting and crocheting. Yarn crafting is way cheaper than therapy. The activity Chairperson and facilitator, Payal Mahajan and Bhawana Berry shared basic techniques of knitting and crocheting. Basic materials (wool and knitting/crochet needles) were provided. The friendly and enthusiastic interaction of the members made the event more vibrant. Words of wisdom by Mrs.Arunima Sood inspired everyone to craft yarn with love to help the underprivileged in any way we can. Ms.Neera Mahajan brought beautiful pieces she has crocheted and knitted over the years, to inspire members.

Bazaar
The Phulkari Bazaar on 18-19 March’23, was the grand finale of the first term of Phulkari WOJ and we chose to use it as a platform for sharing stories and showcasing creativity. There were various learning opportunities at the workshops organised during the Bazaar. Along with exclusive shopping options from vendors from all over India, there were premium food and beverage stalls. The Guest of Honour was Ms.Vatsala Gupta, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar She is a role model for women in the city for her strength, grace and courage. We were delighted that Aayushi Jain, Mrs. India One in a Million ‘22, our special guest graced the occasion with her presence. We are indebted to Mrs. Neerza Mayor for granting us permission to organise the Phulkari WOJ Bazaar in the Mayor World School grounds. The media partner was 91.9 FM RADIO CITY, the social media partner was Noticeboard-Jalandhar by Tinu Luthra and the sponsors for the Bazaar were Lally Motors - Prestige Honda, Kataria Eye and ENT Hospital, Health Farm Nutrition, Ozone Secutech, Rosette Interiors and RCMP, Model Town. Music by Nikhil Chanoria and Sahil Chauhan had everyone tapping their feet. The Bazaar also provided us an opportunity to create awareness about Cervical Cancer at the Phulkari stall and register visitors at the Bazaar for the Tealathon.

Afreen by Prerna Khullar
Rediscovering confidence through the art of makeup with the renowned makeup artist, Prerna Khullar was the aim of 'Afreen - Celebrating The Beautiful You’. The event was hosted at Radisson Jalandhar on 2nd February, 2023. The event provided an opportunity to the members to learn an empowering skill and at the same time, raise funds for facilitating the wedding of two young girls. Prerna’s muse at the event was Phulkari woman of Jalandhar, Minni Chug, who has emerged stronger after her courageous battle with cancer, exhibiting a true love for life and learning. Prerna Khullar conducted the workshop with elan and used the brushes and applicators like magic wands! We are so grateful to her for sharing her art and her desire to support other women in the community. Social activist, Mrs.Seema Chopra helped us identify the individual and organisation to support with the funds that were raised.
